Frequently asked questions
What are soft pity and hard pity?
Hard pity is the guaranteed 5★: pull 90 in Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, pull 80 in Wuthering Waves. Soft pity is where the 5★ rate starts climbing steeply before that — from pull 74 in the HoYoverse games and around pull 66 in Wuthering Waves (base rates 0.6% and 0.8%).
How many pulls guarantee the featured character?
Worst case is two full pities: 180 pulls in Genshin, Star Rail and ZZZ (lose the 50/50 at 90, guaranteed at 180) and 160 pulls in Wuthering Waves. If your next 5★ is already guaranteed, one pity — 90 or 80 pulls minus the pity you have already built — is enough.
How is the chance calculated?
With the standard soft-pity ramp model used by community calculators: the base rate applies until soft pity, then the rate rises evenly to 100% at hard pity. The 50/50 is simulated pull by pull, including the rule that losing a 50/50 makes the next 5★ guaranteed featured.
Does pity carry over between banners?
Yes — in all four games your pity counter and guarantee status carry over to the next limited banner of the same type, so pulls are never wasted when a banner ends.
