Frequently asked questions
Is this capture chance exact?
No — and be suspicious of any calculator that claims otherwise. Pocketpair has never published Palworld's full internal capture formula, so this tool, like other community calculators, is a fitted planning model built on the published sphere Capture Power values (Pal Sphere 7 up to Exotic Sphere 48) and the per-Pal capture modifiers found in the game data (×0.8 to ×1.5). It is a modelled estimate for comparing choices, not the game's hidden percentage.
What are capture modifiers?
Each species has a capture modifier in the game data that makes it easier or harder to catch than average: Chikipi is ×1.5 (easy), Anubis is ×1.0 (average), and the hardest Pals sit at ×0.8. Pick the difficulty class closest to your Pal if you do not know its exact modifier.
What does Capture Power rank do?
Raising your Capture Power at the Statue of Power with Lifmunk Effigies (15 ranks in Palworld 1.0) adds effective power to every sphere you throw. In this model each rank adds +1 effective sphere power, on top of the sphere's own Capture Power.
How is "spheres for 90% confidence" worked out?
If each throw has an independent chance p, the chance of at least one success in n throws is 1 − (1 − p)ⁿ. The tool solves that for 50%, 90% and 99% — so "spheres for 90%" is the number of throws after which you would have caught the Pal 9 times out of 10.
